Any of the silk moths would be great band names: Cecropia, Promethea, Polyphemus and Luna moths. And the family, too: Saturniidae.

We used to call caterpillars that moved along in that humpy sort of way ‘inchworms’. Anyone else?

Yes I’ve come across that name before. For some reason I’ve always assumed it was an American expression, but it seems it’s actually colloquial English and probably was more commonly used in some geographical areas than others, a bit like the geographical variation in common names for woodlice and other things.

Band names - Saxon already taken (and I bet they didn’t name themselves after the moth) but Blood-vein, The Feline or Sorcerer might work for a metal band, along with finger in the ear folk outfits, Argent and Sable and Cumberland Gem.
